Strike a Pose: Are yoga studios the latest
runway? Robert Sullivan wear-tests the newest gear and learns that there
is more to this style trend than meets the third eye.
Excerpt from article:
It is a whole new yoga world out there--a world where Sanskrit
is the fashion-label language of choice and where a show might be named
for a river in India. "It's not just a trend thing anymore,"
says Liza Ciano, of Saka (Sanskrit for "friend"), a yoga-product-design
company on the banks of the Winooski River in Burlington, Vermont. Saka
is now selling what may be the first-ever-way-cool snowboarder-style
messengersque yoga bag, specifically designed to carry yoga mats--a
huge development, especially in crowded urban areas, such as New York
City, where yoga-mat storage on subway trains is a public safety issue.
